Drawing: atmospheres of a salient landscape is an exhibition of new work held on behalf of the Tasmanian International Arts Festival (formally 10 Days on the Island) and University of Tasmania. I have been busy making 3 new large expansive drawings for this show and will also be showing a selection of other recent works.

It's on at 2 venues in Burnie. They are:

Makers Workshop (Daily 9am-5pm)
The Atrium Gallery, University of Tasmania, Cradle Coast Campus (Mon to Fri 9am-5pm)

There will be a special preview and opening on Friday 13 March. The exhibition continues until Tuesday 14 April 2015.

Some good news. My drawing 'Hostile Terrain' has been collected by the Kedumba Drawing Prize. The work was one of six to be purchased and will live in the Kedumba Collection alongside some of Australia's great artists who have been collected in the past. (Such as Rick Amor, Arthur Boyd, Judy Cassab, James Gleeson, Lloyd Rees, etc etc.) I am humbled to say the least.

News at hand. Whilst overseas I had my application for scholarship to undertake a PhD at the University of Tasmania accepted. Now that all of the formalities are over I can report that I am underway. More details about what this means will follow soon.

In other news, I have 2 shows coming up soon. They are:

Tasmanian International Arts Festival (previously known as 10 Days on the Island) - at Makers Workshop in Burnie (March 2015). And I'm excited to announce that this will consist of very large scale work - 3 new ones currently being worked on.

Handmark Gallery - Hobart in May 2015. This will be my third solo exhibition with Handmark.

Well I'm back from my 4 weeks overseas.

Boston was awesome. The exhibition went well and my hosts, Jodi and Alex at Half Crown Design, were, well, so very good to me that it's almost beyond words writing about it.

Following 5 days in the heat of Boston it was then 2 and half weeks in the South of France for a bit, or rather a lot, of R & R. So very good.

Back to reality though and in recent news I have been invited to submit a work to the 2014 Kedumba Drawing Prize in New South Wales and the following work will be on display at:

Wild Valley Art Park (from 26 October 2014 until 16 November 2014): 321 Blaxland Road, Wentworth Falls, NSW
Orange Regional Gallery (from 29 November 2014 until 11 January 2015): corner of Byng & Piesley Streets, Orange, NSW

Some good news. I've had a new drawing short-listed for the $10,000 acquisitive 2014 Heysen Prize for Interpretation of Place.

The work below will be on display at the Hahndorf Academy in Hahndorf, South Australia (just outside of Adelaide) opening 4 October 2014. The exhibition continues until Sunday 30 November 2014.

Two bits of news about upcoming activities.

Firstly, in September I'm off to Boston in the USA to exhibit at Half Crown. Designer and director of Half Crown, Jodi, hosts about 4 exhibitions each year and I am excited by my first solo foray into this part of the US.
Half Crown, 357 Huron Avenue, Cambridge. Exhibition opens Friday 5 September.

Secondly, I've been invited to create a new drawing for the invitational only Kedumba Drawing Prize in New South Wales later in the year. The work, as well as all of the other invitees works, will be on display at Wild Valley from 25 October 20134 until 16 November before it travels to Orange Regional Gallery, in New South Wales from exhibition from 21 November 2014 until 11 January 2015.
